This year, 2011, The United Nations launched the Decade of
Action for Road Safety.
At the United Nations General Assembly on 2nd
March 2010, it proclaimed the goal:
“To stabilize and then reduce the forecast levels of road traffic fatalities around the world.”
Why is this happening?
There is a significant increase, globally, in road traffic
fatalities.
Research predicts a huge increase in vehicles on the road
over a ten year span. (Results based upon total vehicles in use 2008 – 2018)

As a result, The Decade of Action for Road Safety identified 5 key ‘pillars’ ,ways to reduce and prevent fatalities on the roads:
The second pillar identifies unsafe / unsuitable roads.
As global market leader in surface preparation equipment in particular for roads and highways, Blastrac will remain committed to this cause.
Blastrac shot blasting retexturing and rubber removal systems are the most cost effective, environmentally friendly, safest and high performance technology for reducing the danger of slippery roads. Blastrac shot blasting technology will substantially reduce the risk of wet-skid loss of control incidents and associated casualties.
Blasting improves skid resistance on asphalt and concrete surfaces which have become polished by traffic or new surfaces which have a coating of bitumen binder over the aggregate particles. Shot blasting with a Blastrac machine also removes debris, excessive bitumen from the surface, such as rubber on highways. Improvement of Micro and Macro texture with the Blastrac process has repeatedly proved to be extremely effective.
As of now, Blastrac will therefore endorse the Decade of Action for Road Safety tag on all our marketing material.
